Teacher Requirements
A teacher, or classroom instructor, is responsible for helping students learn and reach learning benchmarks. Their duties include:

Planning

Developing curriculum and lesson plans that target specific skills and concepts

Teaching
-
Presenting lessons to students individually or in groups, and reinforcing learning concepts

Managing
-
Maintaining a safe and respectful classroom environment, and managing classroom behavior to keep students engaged

Supporting
-
Providing individual support and feedback for students, and diagnosing their needs
-
Assessing
-
Tracking student progress and recording grades, and creating reports to inform parents
-
Collaborating
-
Working with other teachers, parents, and stakeholders, and participating in regular meetings
-
Enriching
-
Developing and enriching their professional skills and knowledge by attending seminars and conferences
Minimum Education Requirement:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education
OR
Bachelor’s Degree with Education requirements met
Current valid Permanent Florida Teachers Certification (Able to be verified on the DOE website)

Paraprofessional Requirements
A paraprofessional, also known as a teaching assistant, paraeducator, or instructional aid, works closely with teachers to support students in an educational environment. Their responsibilities can vary by school, but generally include:

Classroom management: Helping teachers manage the classroom, including supervising students during lunch, recess, and between classes

Instruction: Providing one-on-one or small group instruction to reinforce lessons and help students who need extra help
-
Lesson plans: Assisting with lesson plans and materials, and preparing equipment for class
-
Grading: Helping teachers keep records for grading, attendance, and grading homework
-
Progress reports: Writing progress reports
-
Field trips: Assisting with field trips and other special events
-
Classroom behavior: Guiding students on proper classroom behavior
-
Parent contact: Helping teachers with parent contact to encourage parent involvement
Minimum Education Requirement:
Completed at least 2 years of study in higher education (60 credit hours) or AA degree
OR
Pass the Praxis ParaPro Assessment with a score of 464
